This is an authentic suriyuzen men's lintel made by skilled craftsmen in Kyoto, Japan. The pattern requires approximately 20 molds. The fabric is made in Japan (Gunze 1,300 monme Seika). Please enjoy the fine texture of the rare, top-quality dyed fabric and the traditional art techniques of Kyoto. This product is made with a temporary ebane.
About the pattern
The dragon is a legendary creature that has appeared in various cultures since ancient times. The dragon often symbolizes power, wisdom, and protection, and is deeply rooted in Japanese and Chinese mythology and folklore.
Dragon Symbolism
- Power and Dignity: The dragon's huge, powerful form symbolizes overwhelming power and majesty.
- Wisdom and Knowledge: In many traditions, the dragon is depicted as a wise man with knowledge and wisdom.
- Protection and prosperity: Especially in Chinese culture, dragons are believed to be guardian deities, bringing prosperity and good fortune.
Japanese Dragons
In Japanese mythology and folklore, dragons often appear as water deities. Examples include the famous eight-forked serpent (Yamata no Orochi) and the dragon god. These dragons are often enshrined in shrines and temples and play an important role in prayers for good harvests in agriculture and fishing.
Chinese Dragons
In traditional Chinese culture, dragons are also an important symbol of the emperor. The Chinese dragon has a long body with horns and claws, and is believed to have the power to fly and bring rain. Especially during the Spring Festival, a dance called the Dragon Dance is performed and celebrated with great enthusiasm among the people.
